Annual Parker Whitehead Regatta Sponsored by his parents:
Rhonda and Roy Whitehead
This regatta is held in memory of Parker Whitehead, a bright, handsome young man, with much promise and an intense interest in all sports. Parker passed away at the age of 15, a victim of cancer.
Parker would be pleased to know that other young people can benefit from his parents’ support of sporting activities such as this regatta, giving them an opportunity to learn self-confidence, self-discipline and teamwork, while having fun on the water. This regatta is to honor his memory.
The regatta is open to all boats of the Optimist class (including wood, plastic and fiberglass hulls), Collegiate 420. (ie., No spinnaker or trapeze) and O’pen Bic. They will race and be scored in 4 classes; the Optimist Gold class will consist of Optimist sailors with 1.5 years or more of sailing experience, all other Optimist sailors will sail in the Silver class, a 420 class and an Open Bic class.
